Guide
MP3 to WAV converts MP3 audio into standard PCM WAV. In the current ToolNova implementation, output is created as 44.1 kHz stereo 16-bit PCM WAV and processing runs in the browser.
WAV can be useful for audio editing, production workflows and software that expects PCM audio.
No. Audio information already lost in MP3 compression cannot be restored by converting to WAV. The conversion only stores the decoded audio in WAV/PCM form.
ToolNova creates 44.1 kHz stereo 16-bit PCM WAV output. PCM is uncompressed, so the resulting file can be much larger than MP3.
No. MP3 to WAV conversion is performed in your browser using FFmpeg WebAssembly.
Some audio editors and production workflows prefer WAV. MP3 to WAV can place existing audio into a format better suited to those systems, but it cannot restore audio information previously removed by MP3 compression.
